Myrk (2001-present): a Black Metal band from Reykjavik, Iceland.
What became Myrk began in 2001 after the firing of the guitarist Guðmundur of Mictian, a membership consisting of Erling (Real Name: Erling Orri Baldursson; bass), Kristján Einar Gudmundsson (drums), Guðmundur (guitars), Bjarni (Real Name: Bjarni Rúnar Hallsson; guitars), Atli (keyboards) and Orn (vocals), who released a single EP in the form of The Way to Mictian (2001).

2001 would see the band reform under the membership of Bjarni (a.k.a. Myrkur; guitars), Erling (a.k.a. Storm; bass), Kristján (a.k.a. Skog; drums) and Icortus (a.k.a. Orn; vocals) to record two demos, most notably The Spell (2002).

Gaddur (a.k.a. Kobbi; guitars) joined in late 2002 to release Icons Of The Dark (2003) at a friend's home studio, a recording that they were never happy with the sound, but by the summer, Gaddur decided to move to a different part of the country so friend Zeraph to become the second guitarist for gigs. All was going great for the band until in November when those old disagreements returned when Myrkur and Icortus got into a personal disagreement regarding the band, soon after the rest of the guys left the band too, leaving just Kobbi and Bjarni to continue on.

Footnote: As Mictian this act was the only black metal band active in Iceland during the turn of the new millennium.
