Satanic Slaughter (1985-1989, 1992-1997, 1998-2006): a Black Metal band from Linköping, Sweden.
A mainstay in the Swedish underground for years, Satanic Slaughter were formed back in 1985 but were never able to maintain a stable line-up, going through as many as 30 members over the years with only Ztephen Dark (guitar) hanging around.

It wasn't until 1995 that a self-titled debut album was released featuring the line-up of Ztephan "Dark" Karlsson (R.I.P. 2006; bass), Mickie "Mique" Pettersson (drums), Toxine (Real Name: Tony Kampner; (ex-Witchery; later of Freevil); vocals), Patrik Jensen (guitars) and Richard Corpse (guitars). But after the follow-up album featuring more black metal and death metal sounds titled Land Of The Unholy Souls (1997), the entire lineup changed again with all of the members leaving, except "Dark", to form Witchery (Jensen eventually going on to join The Haunted).

But "Dark" was undaunted and recruited new members yet again to eventually record Afterlife Kingdom in 2000, featuring Robert Eng (ex-Corporation 187; drums), Andreas Deblén (vocals), Kecke Ljungberg (guitar), Fille Carlsson (ex-Corporation 187; bass) and himself. Stefan Johansson and Martin Axenrot took over from Ljungberg and Eng respectively in time for the release Banished to the Underworld (2002).

After a short hiatus the group reassembled, again with new members, and announced new plans in March 2006. However, these were quickly cut short when "Dark", the only remaining original member of the group, died of heart failure in April 2006.
