Static-X (1994-2010, 2012-2013, 2018-present): a Industrial Metal band from Los Angeles, California, USA.
Wayne Static (Real Name: Wayne Wells; vocals/guitar/programming) and Ken Jay (drums) met as part of their employment in a Chicago department store. Originally forming under the name Drill, they soon after hired the services of Koichi Fukada (guitar) and Tony Campos (bass) to complete their line-up for Static-X. Their M.O. was to make guttural electronically assisted Metal, and a deal with 'Warner' let them express that on CD with the release of their debut album Wisconsin Death Trip (1999). The album's title alone gave it considerable street savvy and it got seemingly endless radio play on US frequencies, especially for the tracks Push It, I'm With Stupid and Bled For Days; it didn't take too long for the album to go platinum never mind the none-existent chart placing. Tripp Rex Eisenb (ex-Dope) replaced Fukada for the release of their second effort Machine (2001), an album that had its propers delivered to it by getting a chart position of 11 US/56 UK.

Shadow Zone (2003) followed soon after. The album debuted at 20 on the Billboard 200 charts, but failed to achieve the platinum or gold selling status of the previous two albums.

Cannibal (2007), marked the studio return of original guitarist, Koichi Fukuda. A new track, No Submission was released on the Saw III movie soundtrack prior to the album's release. Cult of Static (2008) followed.

After finishing their final tour dates in Australia at the end of 2009, friction among the band members came to rise with various members off to produce side-projects. Although the official press statements never declared the band dead, it might-as well have been. This matter was not resolved until 2012 when Wayne Static decided to continue with Static-X, but none of the original members would join him. Instead his solo band would tour under the name Static-X but was forced to promptly quit the project. The reason, not surprisingly, Campos had objected over Static's annexation of band rights; cross accusations ensued. Despite breaking up the band, Static still performed the band's music under his own name and solo band in 2014, most notably playing the Wisconsin Death Trip album in its entirety to celebrate the album's fifteenth anniversary.

On October 23, 2018, original members Tony Campos, Koichi Fukuda and Ken Jay revealed plans for Static-X to reunite. In 2020 the first recordings from this effort would emerge under the name Project Regeneration 1 and the follow-up, Project Regeneration 2 including previously unreleased tracks with Wayne Static's vocals and guest vocals by David Draiman, Ivan Moody, Dez Fafara, Burton C. Bell, Al Jourgensen, Edsel Dope and others.
