Kemet

Biography

Kemet (1997-present): a Death Metal band from Lyon, France.

C

reated in 1997 in Lyon, France, Kemet would work with a melancholic and melodic heavy metal style. The vocal styles would growl and drone like that of black metal and suddenly clear up on a whim while a female chorus background overdub accompanied their music. The membership of Bertrand (drums), Eric Fiorletta (vocals), Gilles Langlois (guitar), Jerome (bass) and Vincent Van Meenen (guitars) came from former heavier outfits but desired something innovative and new to the standard bump and grind of black metal. In February of 1998 they would complete their debut demo Pieces. March of 1999 would see the arrival of Regis as keyboardist, while four months later Guillaume B. would replace the original bass player Jerome. Deciding that keyboards weren't their sound after-all Regis would receive the sack that September. In January of 2001 'Deadsun Records' signed them and launched their debut album, Dying With Elegance. The discography would include The Night Before (2003), the split Furia Prod (2005) and The Rules of Equilibrium (2006).

Christophe would try guitars but the membership would eventually settle on Serge Mouton (drums), Franck Dusseux guitars), Christian Héritier (programming), Vincent Van Meenen (guitars), Eric Fiorletta (vocals) and Sylvain De Nicola (bass). The band has been silent since and their status is unknown.
