Biography

Profanatica (1990-1992, 2001-present): a Black Metal band from Brewster, New York, USA.

fter the founding members of death metal band Incantation split ways due to artistic differences, Paul Ledney (drums/vocals), Aragon Amori (R.I.P. 1996; bass) and Brett Makowski (guitars) adopted the name Profanatica while John McEntee continued with Incantation. Profanatica would debut in 1992 with the Weeping in Heaven EP. The EP was a limited release of 500 copies by 'After World Records'. But the act split soon after, only to reform in 2001.

That split up is an interesting bit of trivia. Vocalist and all round instrumentalist Ixithra (Real Name: Robert Crusen; of Demoncy) joined the band in 1992 to play guitar for one gig and to participate in an American black metal festival that Halloween, appearing with bands such as Order from Chaos, Vital Remains and Acheron; however, this never took place. The band then entered the studio to record a full-length release, initially entitled The Raping of the Virgin Mary, although in other instances the name was known as Sodomy of Sacred Assholes. Regardless of the name, the master tapes of these recordings were allegedly destroyed by Aragon and Ixithra, and the band parted ways soon after. Interestingly also, the unreleased album was advertised by 'Osmose Productions' and showed what would have been the final cover art.
