God Seed

ormed in 2007 by Gaahl (Real Name: Kristian Eivind Espedal) and King Ov Hell (Real Name: Tom Cato Visnes), God Seed opened shop in 2007 under the name Gorgoroth, the problem is that name was already taken by another, now more famous act and a legal dispute ensued which also halted the release of a record under that name and the demise of the band. The origins of the dispute was when longtime Gorgoroth members Gaahl and King Ov Hell attempted to remove founding member Infernus from the band. Once the legal dispute was settled in favor of Infernus, both founders reformed and changed the name to God Seed after a Gorgoroth song and released the album I Begin (2012). The legal issue really set the act back for it wasn't until 2012 that the band reformed to release any recordings including the live set, Live at Wacken (2012).

Despite their troubles, the band's line-up has remained stable since the reformation under the membership of King Ov Hell (bass), Gaahl (vocals), Sir (Real Name: Stian Kårstad; guitars), Lust Kilman (Real Name: Ole Hermann Walaunet; guitars), Geir Bratland (Real Name: Geir Bratland; keyboards/noise) and Baard Kolstad who briefly replaced Kenneth Kapstad on drums after he left in 2015 shortly before the band's final demise.
