Torturer

Biography

Torturer (1989-1995, 1996-present): a Thrash Metal band from Santiago, Chile.

S

tarting in 1989 under the same Torture, a year later the name was extended and the membership of Francisco Cautín (vocals/bass), Marco Aguilera (guitars), Manuel Schäfler (guitars) and Omar Flores (drums) to release their debut demo Rehearsal May '90 (1990) after their follow-up demo and a split, the membership was reduced to Schäfler, Cautín and Flores for the debut album Oppressed by the Force (1992).

With only Cautín the band membership was otherwise replaced with Leo Corvalán (drums) and Rodrigo Neira (guitars) for the follow-up EP, Los últimos tiempos (1995).

Cautín was again the only original member for Rise from the Ashes with new members Pablo Navarrete (guitars), Martín Valenzuela (drums) and Sebastián Morales (guitars).

After the live set Live from the Ashes (2002), The Flames of Purification (2003) featured Navarrete replaced with Francisco Garcés. But with the split Eterna tortura / Devastnation (2008) and the compilation Los últimos tiempos (2009) under their belt, the band returned with the follow-up self-titled album in 2013 featuring Rodrigo Zúñiga assuming drums. For the follow-up, however, Conjuro IV (2017), Navarrete was gone.
