A Life Less Alive

Biography

A Life Less Alive (1997-present): a Death Metal band from Lorain, Ohio, USA.

C

onsisting of Ernie Hernandez (guitar/vocals), Phil Tolbert (drums) and "Big Metal" Dave (guitar), A Life Less Alive kept the indie spirit of death metal alive and well in the styles of Mortician and Napalm Death or Last Days Of Humanity. Switching between Ohio and California, they have managed to pop out independent releases on CD-R format, including Bleeding Entrails (1998), Full Of Maggots (1999), Decapitated (1999), Killection (2001) and We Walk This Earth (2001). Their music sums up the indie spirit, it has thus far lacked production quality, but is brutal death metal through-and-through summing up all that is grotesque (and sometimes creative) about that genre. They have experienced several membership changes since their founding in 1997, mostly involving the drummer. The most recent was the departure of their bass player Kevin Spencer, who played with them a scant 13 days (April 2-15, 2001) with no replacement to this time. Several college radio and indie review papers and web sites have expressed interest but no major deals as of yet.
