Biography

Gentlemens Pistols (2003-present): a Heavy Metal band from Leeds, UK.

F

ormed in 2003, Gentlemans Pistols was created by singer/guitarist James Atkinson (ex-Voorhees), bassist Douglas McLaughlan and drummer Simon Mawson. This line-up played only one show, however, before the replacement of Simon Mawson by Adam Clarke in 2004. The line-up was updated soon after by the addition of guitarist Chris Rogers to make them a four-piece.

7" single Just A Fraction arrived in 2006 for the 'Art Goes Pop' label. They followed it with a further 7", The Lady, for 'Rise Above Records' later that same year. This was followed by their self-titled debut album in August 2007. The disc was distributed in Japan via 'Leaf Hound Records,' containing the bonus track, Comatose.

Shortly before the release of the debut album, drummer Adam Clarke announced he was leaving. He was replaced by Stuart Dobbins (ex-Leeds 'zombiecore' group Send More Paramedics. In June 2009 guitarist Chris Rogers then announced his departure from the band, to be replaced by Bill Steer (ex-Carcass; ex-Firebird). Under this line-up, the 2011 album At Her Majesty's Pleasure.

April 2013 saw Martyn Roper joined as the band's new bassist, before their performance at the Berlin date of the DesertFest festival.
