Boys Night Out

Biography

Boys Night Out (2001-2007, 2015-present): a Emo band from Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

I

n 2001 Boys Night Out started when Connor Lovat-Fraser (vocals) and Jeff Davis (guitars) began working together on songs, an effort that eventually led to the four-song You Are My Canvas demo, an EP influenced by fellow Burlington hardcore act Grade. The demo lead to the the signing to 'One Day Savior Records' to release the Broken Bones & Bloody Kisses EP.

It wasn't long before a label change to New Jersey-based 'Ferret Records' occurred. Their debut full-length album, Make Yourself Sick (2003), was a lighter pop-punk-oriented affair while retaining the heavy screaming and heavy guitars found on the earlier releases. The band toured heavily in support of the record to perform with acts My Chemical Romance, Catch 22, Saves the Day, and a turn on the Warped Tour. The act was also featured on the Nintendo Fusion Tour with Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack, The Starting Line, and Panic! at the Disco.

Trainwreck (2005) was a more subdued, experimental concept album based on a man's loss of sanity. The record (and story) opens with a doctor dictating his notes into a tape recorder. The album tells the story of the arrest, trial, treatment and subsequent release of a man who, in a waking dream, murders his wife and then cuts both his hands off with a machine at his work so that he can not kill again. Kara Dupuy's vocals act as the deceased wife's voice heard by the patient throughout the album.

2006 saw a number of line-up changes:Kara Dupuy had become engaged for marriage and chose to pursue a new life off the road. In March, Andy Lewis (ex-The Fullblast) joined on guitar. And late in the year, Brian Southall left to join The Receiving End of Sirens and was replaced by Ben Arseneau, who returned on drums.

Their self-titled album finally followed in 2007, after which an absence from the industry occurred for several years.

Boys Night Out played their first show in two years on 24 October 2009 at the Opera House in Toronto using the original five members.

Various projects were taken until 2015 when the membership were seen in full production again. That work resulted in the Black Dogs EP (2016) on the 'Good Fight' label under the membership of Connor Lovat-Fraser (lead vocals), Jeff Tarbender Davis (lead guitar/backing vocals), Dave Costa (bass) and Ben Arseneau (drums). Past members have included Kara Dupuy (keyboards), Andy Lewis (guitars/backing vocals), Rob Pasalic (ex-Saint Alvia; guitar/vocals), Shawn Butchart (guitar), and drummers Brian Southall, Chris Danner and Adam Kingsbury.
