Ballistic

Biography

(AISE: Redirected from Afterburn)

Ballistic (2000-present): a Power Metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

V

ocalsist Tom Gattis (vocals/guitar) had been a very determined individual for this was his fourth band in his long career extending back to Deuce in the late 1970s, Tension in the 1980s and Wardog in the 1990s. Originally named Afterburn, Ballistic would be his brainchild when he lassoed old Tension buddy Tim O'Connor on bass, ex-Jag Panzer drummer Rickard Stjernquist, along with Bulgarian maestro Peter Petev on guitars in 2001 to later release a self-titled debut in 2003; with nods to the styles of Overkill in both pace and vocals, the album never let up.

Gattis would soon after announce he would leave the vocal duties to Harry Conklin (ex-Jag Panzer) while he concentrated strictly on guitar. Conklin would also step down due to an inability to tour to be replaced by Twisted Tower Dire singer Tony Taylor until his departure in 2006. Chris Broderick would briefly take over guitars before Petio Petev returned. The band has not officially broken up but has remained on hiatus ever since.
