hen Kurt Vanderhoof tired of the touring lifestyle in Metal Church, a band he founded in the early 1980s and appearing on their first two classic albums, he would leave them to form Hall Aflame when the itch to play returned (although he continued on with Metal Church as a songwriter). Unfortunately for fans of his former act his new endeavor lacked the thrash metal sound they may have expected with the debut Guaranteed Forever (1991) under the membership of himself with Brian Smith (bass), Tom Weber (drums) and Ron Lowd (vocals). The album got little notice, however, a shame for it had radio potential. The band didn't survive very long and Vanderhoof returned to Metal Church for a time then left to pursue his solo project, Vanderhoof. There have been claims of a second album being in the works but none has yet emerged.
