eriness was founded in 1996 by Thomas Laupper (guitar) and Philipp Gnos (guitar/vocals). Soon after, Rainer Stüssi (drums) and Ramon Burlet (bass) also joined the band. In this formation Eeriness played basic Heavy Metal. After various experiments with keyboards it was realized that their addition became more and more important, so Andy Salzmann was added at keyboards.
In 1997 bassist Ramon Burlet decided to pursue a different style of music and left the band. Nevertheless, in January 1998, the band trudged on to give their first concert in Unterengstringen (a town near Zurich) with great success. Later that spring, Markus Burri replaced Andy Salzmann who left because of personal reasons.
In April 1999, they finally found Mikko Wiederkehr to take the bass and their first Demo-CD Lord Of The Night was completed. The four parts of this CD Symphony Violin, Voice Of Sadness, Embrace Of Evil and Winter Perceive were a mixture of Heavy and Gothic Metal. Indeed, it set the standard for their ever-increasing Gothic Metal tendencies and in 2000 Tilia Schneider took over on vocals. Soon after their Promo-CD, Endless, followed and was first presented to the world at the Green Wolf Metal Pub in Deitingen. In 2001 Zorka Ciklaminy (violin/cello), joined the band just as Markus Burri (keyboards) left to continue his professional studies. Tilia Schneider took over the keyboards, and with Katarina Krcmaraova they found a new singer. Then, in 2002, Thomas Laupper unfortunately had to leave because he could no longer afford to spend the time needed on the band, so Roland Hurni took over his vacant guitar spot to complete a major line-up shift.
It was at the end of 2002 when their album A Life Beyond The Shades Of Time finally saw the light of day produced by the well-known Tommy Vetterli (who had worked with the likes of Kreator and Coroner) and released on the Shark Records' label in 2003.
