ince their start in 1989, Damaged have been at the forefront of the Australian extreme music scene and their signing to California's, Rotten Records', helped to spread recognition of Damaged's own unique blend of musical styles to a worldwide audience.
That infamous style combined elements of Death Metal, Grindcore and Hardcore but neither label is entirely accurate. Hence the term Hatecore was created to represent pissed off people playing pissed off music. The band initially split in 1996 but reformed in 1997. The last line up of Hilly (Real Name: Chris Hill; guitar), Skitz (Real Name: Matt Sanders; drums), Mohawk (Real Name: Jason Parker; bass) and Dave Saddington (vocals) seemed to be the most coherent with Parker, Hill and Sanders representing the original 1989 line-up (Matt Silcock (guitar) and Jaymi Ludbrooke (vocals) had completed that original line-up; Ludbrooke returning for only a year in 1997 and replaced with Brendan Birge for the 1998 seasons and Kevin Sharp until 2003). During 1999 Terry Vainoras was on bass for a year. Recent live performances have signaled the return of the trademark aggression and intensity that Damaged would be renowned for. Their catalogue consisted of The Art Of Destroying Life Demo (1992), Do Not Spit (1993), Passive Backseat Demon Engines EP (1995), Satisfaction? Single (1995), Token Remedies Research (1997), Purified In Pain (2000), Do Not Spit / Passive Backseat Demon Engines (2001; re-release; with bonus CD-ROM film clip of `Nails`).
In 2004 Skitz was forced to stop playing due to serious health issues, so a few months later the band decided to Disband.
