n 2000, vocalist/guitarist Alan Costello and Xtreme metal guitarist Dave Miller decided they would form a band. They originally named the act Sinning Saints, and for three years this band changed its name and members around, whilst not actually doing much besides writing one song entitled Resistance Is Futile. The band went through a great many members, the line up beginning as Alan Costello (Vocals/Rhythm Guitar), David Miller (Lead Guitar), Michael Costello (Bass Guitar) and Michael "Barra" Fish (Drums). But within the early changes, Alan Costello's guitar post was replaced with "Hobo" Dave Gray, while MichaelCostello was replaced with Kevin "Chunk" Clough around 2001, the same time the band's name was changed to Slaughterhook.

Slaughterhook began doing constructive work in 2003 consisting of Alan Costello (Vocals), Ali Calder (Drums), Lewis Baker (Guitar), Dave Miller (Guitar), and Chunk (Bass). In 2004, Slaughterhook played their first gig at the Falkirk Town Hall with Alan Martin on vocals, to an audience of approximately 150 people. Soon Alan Costello once again realized his guitar proficiency and rejoined the act; an act that soon discovered it would function well with three guitarists, making the line-up ofDavid Miller (Metal Guitar), Bryan "Reg" Russel (Drums), Alan Costello (Vocals/Neo-Classical Guitar), Adam Dunbar (Vocals/Blues Guitar), and Gareth Brown (Fore-Strings). Ali Calder was part of this line-up for a long time, but was recently replaced with Reg, quitting because he was unhappy with the band's progress.

In 2005 the band would take it's shape into the present form and ceased being a simple cover act to compile eight songs for a future album release.
