Teramaze

Biography

Teramaze (1993-present): a Progressive Metal band from Geelong, Victoria, Australia.

F

ormed in 1993, Teramaze opened shop with Dean Wells (guitars/backing vocals). With the membership of Matt Ritchie (bass), Tony Paulo (drums), Brett Rerekura (vocals) and Adam Burnell (guitars) joining him they would release Doxology (1995).

By the time Tears to Dust (1998) arrived, Rerekura was gone; Wells would assume all vocal duties. A live EP was then released in 2000 titled Not the Criminal.

After a four year break, a new demo Demo 2008 (2008) and a compilation Anthology (2008), Teramaze regrouped with Tijon Lolis (bass), Dean Wells (guitars/vocals (backing)), Mathew Dawson (guitars), Brett Rerekura returned on vocals, and Julian Percy (R.I.P. 2009; drums) to release Anhedonia (2012) on a new label.

Esoteric Symbolism (2014) saw the membership list change to feature Wells and Rerekura returning with Dave Holley (keyboards/strings/piano (track 13)), Dean Kennedy (drums) and John Zambelis (guitars). A year later Luis Enrique Eguren would assume bass, and Nathan Peachey would assume vocals, leaving the band as a four-piece for Her Halo (2015).

Footnote: Originally formed under the name Terrormaze, but the name was changed when the members' discovered Christianity. This 'discovery' changed the band's lyrical focus and mission.
