orn in 1967 in Decateur, Georgia, Tim Downing was raised by a single parent. His interest in music was founded by his interest in a wood piano at a friend's, a piano he attempted to play and discovered a symphony in his head. It would be in high school where he played an upright bass while taking formal music instruction. He would then drift from one indie band to another playing guitar and singing until he came across John Ware and a Gospel band playing in concerts and churches. The act got some minor notoriety and allowed Tim to find his place and release his solo effort Expressions in 2005.
