Goatsnake

Biography

Goatsnake (1996-2001, 2006-present): a Doom Metal band from Los Angeles, California, USA.

F

ormer Obsessed bassist and drummer Guy Pinhas and Greg Rogers (drums), along with ex-Wool/ex-Scream frontman Peter Stahl founded Goatsnake in 1996. Their background influences proved to be problem for their first release Goatsnake Vol. 1 (1999), an album that borrowed largely from Black Sabbath and Mudhoney. Stahl's whiny voice, however, had improved since his Scream days; the platter coming across as a mix of doom metal, Stoner rock and plain old rock 'n' Roll. But the album failed to amass any credit for quality production, the very same problem that plagued his former Wool operations and ultimately saw both the production and music even fall through the cracks of mid-'90's grunge. Several EPs followed until 1 arrived in 1999.

The act was busy over the millennium with the EP Dog Days (2000) and Flower of Disease (2000) with G. Stuart Dahlquist on bass before they broke up in May 2002.
